As the year comes to an end many of you are gearing up to attend RV shows across the country. We want to share some tips to help you not only have fun, but also help you survive!

RV shows can be a great place to find the perfect RV or just browse at all of the new upgrades found in RVs. We will provide tips to help make your RV show experience as enjoyable and successful as possible.

Shopping Tips

  • First of all, do some research on the different models and brands that will be at the RV show. This way you can get an idea of what features each RV has and which ones best match your needs or interests. We also suggest bringing a tape measure with you to ensure that the RVs have the right amount of space for all of your items.

  • Don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions! At the larger shows, recreational vehicle manufacturers send representatives to support dealerships. They are an excellent source of information as they typically have a better understanding of the models than dealership salespeople. If you have specific questions or concerns about a model or need assistance comparing two units, request to speak with a representative. They are there to answer any questions you may have about their products. Ask about things like warranties, performance ratings, and customer service options. Make sure you know exactly what you’re getting before making a purchase.

  • Create a system to jot down notes about the RVs that interest you. Many people carry a notepad or journal to gather information about each RV. It is best to take pictures as well. Do not rely on your memory! You may look at several RVs and it is easy to confuse which ones had the items you liked best.

  • Have a set budget in mind and do not get pressured into a purchase you will later regret. The sale price offered at the show is often honored afterward, so take your time before signing the agreement.

  • Do not let all the shiny objects derail you and your budget. The salespeople can create a high-pressure situation where they tell you the deal is only good for that day! Do not fall for this!

  • If you are considering purchasing an RV from the show, ask the dealer for a return pass. You will then give yourself some time to think about this big purchase and you can come back another day without purchasing another ticket.

  • Once you decide on an RV, get it inspected by a certified RV inspector. If the dealer gives you any trouble with using your own certified inspector, then you need to reconsider the purchase.

  • Finally, it is important to know what the return policy is. Ask about how long the dealer can keep your RV and whether they offer any additional incentives or discounts. Knowing this information upfront will help you get the most value for your money!

Make The Most Of The Show

  • You will be walking and climbing in and out of RVs, so it is best to wear comfortable shoes.

  • Use the map to help guide your day! Go to the sections that interest you the most first and then if time allows make your way to other areas or you can plan to come another day to hit up other areas.

  • Attend some of the RV Seminars. This is a great time to learn more about how to care for your RV or what great upgrades are available

  • Check out the vendors that attend. We find it fun to see who comes to the RV shows. You will find great products to make your RV life easier.

  • It is a good idea to bring water and some snacks for your day. Most shows have options, but the lines can be long and the choices are limited.
